Event-driven hedge funds have become more popular in recent years and have attracted increased attention and scrutiny. A popular industry database recently ranked the Rosseau Limited Partnership as the best event-driven hedge fund in 2006. Producing a return of 121.7% for the year, Rosseau outpaced its competition.
But they weren’t through. Their offshore fund, G-10 Rosseau Special Situations Fund, returned 112.5% and captured second place. The two funds, when evaluated and compared with all hedge fund strategies, were ranked fourth and fifth, respectively, on a global basis.
Rosseau is not new to the outstanding performance arena. Over the past eight years, Rosseau’s annual compound rate of return is a robust 34.7%! Its founder and portfolio manager, Warren Irwin, while thrilled with the fund’s performance in 2006, is even more impressed with their longer term achievements.
Throughout this period, Rosseau has been involved in a number of different industries and has also successfully used a variety of strategies.
Rosseau is a money management firm based in Canada (Toronto), Rosseau targets classic hedge fund audiences, high net worth and institutional investors. Their goal is to increase long-term capital appreciation through event-driven investment strategies.
They manage approximately $200 Million using fundamental, but state-of-the-art methods to find profitable opportunities in bankruptcies, restructurings, and other special event situations. To date, their strategies and management have been quite impressive.
